Linea House Publishing

A publishing house is a line drawn between a writer and a reader.

House statement

Linea House Publishing is an independent house based in Nigeria. We publish fiction, essays and poetry from writers whose work carries a culture in it — its arguments, its grammar, its particular way of holding a grievance or a joke.

We take the view that a cultural narrative survives by being printed, bound, and put into circulation, not by being described. So the work of the house is unglamorous and specific: acquire carefully, edit closely, produce well, and keep the backlist alive. A book that goes out of print stops being a narrative and becomes a memory of one.

Our list is deliberately small. We publish 11 titles across print and forthcoming, and we would rather add two books a year that we can properly stand behind than ten we cannot.

We read internationally and we sell internationally. Rights are handled in-house — see rights and permissions.

How we work

Editorial
Every acquisition is edited structurally and then line by line, by a named editor who stays with the book to publication.
Production
Printed and bound to a specification we set. Covers are commissioned, never templated.
Translation
We buy and we sell. Where a book arrives in translation, the translator is credited on the cover.
Backlist
Titles stay in print. Availability on the catalogue reflects stock, not interest.
